Winds gusting as high as 45 mph above 10000 feet. * WHERE...Elkhead and Park Mountains. * WHEN...For the first Winter Storm Warning, until 6 AM MST Saturday. For the second Winter Storm Warning, from 11 AM Saturday to 11 AM MST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow Friday evening into Saturday morning. Travel could be very difficult. Avalanches will run naturally and long distances. Avalanches will also be very easy to trigger by people recreating on steep slopes in the backcountry. *WHERE...Park Range, Elkhead Mountains, Flat Tops, Gore Range, West Elk Mountains *WHEN...Friday evening through Monday evening *IMPACTS...Large and dangerous avalanches will be very easy to trigger in many places. Avalanches will release naturally. *PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended in the mentioned areas.
