Special Weather Statement issued June 6 at 12:24PM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY A cold front slowly moving across New York state is pushing a broad swath of heavy showers into the Finger Lakes and eastern Lake Ontario region this afternoon. Torrential downpours may cause localized flooding in spots through mid-afternoon, especially in low lying and poor drainage areas. There is also risk that embedded thunderstorms that develop ahead of this cold front could become strong enough to produce localized damaging wind gusts to 60 mph. Those with outdoor activities should keep an eye to the sky and keep abreast of updated forecasts and possible warnings. Never attempt to drive through any flooded roadways.
