Special Weather Statement issued June 7 at 4:56PM EDT by NWS Albany NY At 455 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Menands to near Coxsackie. Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Albany, Troy, East Greenbush, Rensselaer, Chatham, Nassau, Menands, New Baltimore, Ravena, Coxsackie, Berlin, Valatie, Castleton-On-Hudson, Kinderhook, West Sand Lake, Averill Park, Selkirk, Wyantskill, Wynantskill, and North Greenbush. This includes the following highways... Interstate 90 between exits 10 and 5A. Interstate 87 between exits 21B and 23. Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 7. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
